When I became a Realtor, I agreed to adhere to a Code of Ethics and one part of that code is the Golden Rule: treat others as you wish to be treated.
Sometimes it’s hard to see how the Golden Rule applies to buyers and sellers. After all, don’t they want contrary goals?
It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t quibble over important details. It doesn’t mean that you need to buy a home in Oxon Hill when you want a unit in Alexandria. But it does mean that:
We never make promises we don’t intend to keep. We investigate before we buy and whenever possible before we even make an offer. We don’t hang up on people. We pick up when we can. If we miss a call, we return a call.
